The photography exhibition Le Corbusier's Chandigarh - 1966 by Swiss photographer Jürg Gasser was inaugurated at the Underpass Gallery in Rose Garden, Chandigarh. The event was organized by the M.N. Sharma Architectural Society and the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi. The exhibition brings back memories of Chandigarh's architectural heritage, highlighting the city's design from the 1960s.
Architect Manmohan Khanna lit the inaugural lamp in the presence of various artists, art lovers, and dignitaries from the tricity. Jürg Gasser, who visited Chandigarh in 1968, was fascinated by the city's architectural brilliance, especially the Capitol Complex, which was built without the help of modern machinery. He witnessed the use of donkeys and ox carts for transporting construction materials, a testament to the passion behind the city's creation.
Architects Kapil Setia, and Deepika Gandhi emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in showcasing the love and dedication involved in the city's architecture. Prof. Bheem Malhotra, Chairman of the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, thanked the guests for their support. Prof. Yojna Rawat, General Secretary, M N Sharma Architectural Society thanked the guests and dignitaries for gracing the occassion with their presence.
The exhibition will remain open until October 14, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
